A hotel run with love and pride - and justifiably so! Often, what makes the difference between a good hotel and a great hotel is not always the buildings, the facilities or the number of staff etc, although The Dower House Hotel definitely does not fall down on any of these measures. Often it is the people that run and work in it that makes all the difference, and we really felt the genuine love, pride, and effort that is put into running this excellent hotel. From the moment we walked in to when we left, we could not have felt more welcome by the staff or the owners. We stayed there as part of a road trip along the south coast, staying in six hotels in a week, most of them more expensive than The Dower House Hotel and this was the one that really stood out for us. Other than that, the king-sized bed was the most comfortable we stayed in, and the size of the room was more than big enough to install a spare bed for our son. It was an extremely comfortable stay and we will definitely stay here again next time we visit the area. Thanks again for the wondering experience and warm welcome and service!

Most amazing hotel Wow! What a great hotel. We were lucky enough to stay 6 nights in the Anning Suite. The hotel is just delightful and beautifully decorated with great furnishings throughout. Beds were so comfortable with top end bed linen which meant a great nights sleep. The heated pool was a real bonus and we swam every afternoon after exploring the local area. We had a great breakfast every morning with very high quality ingredients. And meeting the other guests in the bar each evening was so nice. Best wishes to Linda with her UK tour. And to Peter and Kathy. It was also great that the hotel is dog friendly with a lovely fenced paddock for them to roam in. Our terrier loved the grounds. This is a great place to stay. Rosemary and Neil are wonderful hosts, so friendly and welcoming with great advice on where to go and what to see locally. Thank you for making it such a lovely few days. Will be back to see you again very soon we hope.

So happy to be back Well the pillows are the fluffiest i’ve ever felt!!! Interesting that this is the default on Trip Advisor because it’s true. I travel a lot for work and this is one of the few hotels with great pillows. Lovely beds too. I’ve stayed here three times now and each time I’ve had a lovely welcome. Great location completely silent at night and very convenient for travel. the breakfast is the best you’ll get quite frankly. Very high quality bacon and other ingredients, cooked to absolutely crispy perfection. I’m writing this at 3 pm and i’m not sure I should have booked an early dinner in Sidmouth as Im still not even peckish. The rooms are spotlessly clean and bed linen towels etc are all top quality. Great showers and I like the quaint old school flush-boxes( actually very expensive ) They actually flush and don’t waste water like the twin flush nightmares in most hotels and houses. I really get what the hosts are doing here. They are fastidious and the Dower House is an absolute credit to them. Staying here makes work feel more like a mini break. Looking forward to many more stays.

Relaxing break My Wife and came here for two nights on Monday 17th July, for some R & R. With really busy times with our places of work and health issues, this was well deserved. And it did the trick. Totally relaxed and chilled after staying here. A simply beautiful house, great decor, large extremely comfortable bed. We both slept better than in any other hotel! You can’t hear any noise. So really peaceful. Breakfast lovely & lots of it. It’s just a few miles out of Lyme Regis, on its own in the middle of nowhere - bliss! (Huge corn field opposite and when mist came in one night, there was a ‘children of the corn’ vibe going on!) Hosts and owners Neil and Rosemary were so welcoming and friendly - first name terms too. Thanks so much for making this perfect for us. The other staff cleaners/waiting staff we saw were also chatty and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. I hate cold, so called heated pools. This pool was perfect at 28c. We’re definitely coming back at some point. Next time the kids are coming too - well you can’t have it all!

Just a perfect wedding location! The team at the Dower House could not have been more helpful, from the first meeting with Carolyn (their wedding planner) to discuss initial dates, through to the eventual wedding some 18 months later. We felt engaged with and in control every step of the way. Communication, mainly by email, was always efficient and engaging and nothing was ever too much trouble. On the wedding day itself, all the staff went above and beyond, taking the time to introduce themselves to us personally and making sure we wanted for nothing. The weather on the day was glorious (10th June) and we were able to get married outside under the folly - the most idyllic and romantic location. We loved the fact that we were exclusive, unlike some of the bigger hotels that perhaps run at least one other wedding on the same day. The food was beautiful and plentiful and all of our guests commented on the quality of the food and the attentiveness of the staff from the minute they arrived to the minute they went to bed. The following morning, all our gifts and things like left over cake, had been carefully packaged up by the staff and made us packing up much simpler than it otherwise might have been. We have been to other weddings at larger venues, where you simply do not get this level of service or personal touch that you do at the Dower House. Just perfect.

A Warm, Charming and Intriguing Hotel with Very Friendly and Engaging Hosts This hotel is a gem! Neil and Rosemary are so friendly and welcoming and made our three night stay a wonderful experience. The hotel is in a 19th century building making it quaint and intriguing. Our room, the Austen Suite, is spacious and comfortable furnished with period pieces for lounging or sitting with a snack or beverage. The bathroom is of ample size with an outstanding rain-head shower. The window wall bumped out with bay windows to provide great views of the garden and distant rolling hills and ocean of the Jurassic Coast. The large four poster bed is very comfortable with just the right firmness and pillow shape for a great night's sleep! The gardens are immaculate and inviting for casual strolls around the property. The breakfasts were amazing with cooked to order full English, fresh fruit, fresh squeezed orange juice and more (Neil does fantastic poached eggs!). The whole staff is so helpful and accommodating and bent over backwards to make our time a memorable one. We wound up staying an extra night because they were able to accommodate us and we were having such a good time. We will definitely stay here again on our next visit to this area!

Wonderful hotel. Absolutely beautiful hotel set in stunning area. Owners Rosemarie and Neil were simply the best hosts. Nothing was too much trouble and the room was absolutely gorgeous. Bed was super comfy and luxurious. Breakfast was exceptionally good. Didn’t use the pool but next visit would be a probability. Just a 10 minute drive from town centre so parking wasn’t an issue. It’s also dog friendly which is a bonus. Made to feel very welcome. 5* experience.
